New Documentary Gallery On My Site

Go to my website: jmfoto.es click the Documental page then Alhambra. All the images were shot on 35mm b&w film as I really love the visual quality of film. The focus of the project is summed up in these keywords which came from a brain storming session before I started the project.

The next project I will post is called simply AUSCHWITZ. It's a series of images I shot for a project last year. Shooting the AUSCHWITZ project was a very emotional experience..... check back soon for updates.

Hasselblad presents the H4D-40

I had to post this video as the camera featured is my dream camera, to have any hasselblad camera film or digital would be a dream for me. This camera is the top of the pops as far as gear is concerned and with a price tag of $42,500 it is only a tool for the few. I love the quote on the video "You should try it. You will love it" yea right... I have a spare 42 grand just sitting in my bank account that I was keeping for a rainy day.

Editing Music

I don't know about you lot but when I am working in Photoshop and have lots of images to edit I like nothing better than to get some good tunes pumping in my ears and delve deep into the zone. I usually sway in the direction of electronic music such as trance, ambient, chill and house etc. I use to rely on my itunes catalog but for the last year or so I have been using the web more and more as there are a multitude of great sites to listen to the kind of music you like best. Here is one of my favorites:

A Strangely Isolated Place

Mix Cloud

Sound Cloud

House Music Podcasts

Wasted Spaces

FEX Images

Well it has been a fun three weeks at the festival. I managed to get to a good few events despite the travel logistics. The lighting on some of the shows was terrible. I am sure that someone with no prior lighting knowledge/training could have done a better job. A good 90% of the shows took place in the late evening which made photographing then very tricky, pushing my 5D to the limits of its light sensitivity and shooting at highs of 1250 & 1600 ISO.

Its one of the first times in a long time where I have had limited control over my images and that took a bit of getting used too, but thats the nature of the beast, event photography.

I really enjoyed meeting new people and challenging myself to get the images at each event. The best part of it all was seeing all the events and artists, some of the performances were nothing short of amazing.

Images from the archive

These images were taken during my HDR experimenting days a few years ago. I always think its good to revisit old work and look at how you would do things differently to improve the images based on what you know now.
